Venezuelan Arepas

Ingredients for 8 Arepas:

  • 2 cups Morixe cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups of lukewarm water

Preparation

Mix the warm water with the salt until dissolved and add the flour little by little. Stir until the dough is compact but smooth and easy to shape.
Make small balls of dough with your hand and flatten them gently. Place the arepas in a skillet over medium low heat to brown and seal externally.

Then you can bake them for 5 minutes on each side to leave them crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Remove them from the oven and let cool.
